TUC (Trade Union Congress) 26th March 2010

500,000 people make it a day to remember in labour history where we turn the tide against neo-liberal/neo-conservative ideology and for a genuine big society for the people not the elite minority.

  1. ‘‘it’s not about individuals it’s about the millions in Britain who are going to pay the price of the current crisis of global finance capitalism and whilst Labour remains electorally the most viable party of labour we have to acknowledge it was a plus that Ed Miliband was there and all those other Labour MPs who went on the march, If we are to build a broad left unity against the Tory/Liberal coalition that’s the way forward. That’s what the 400,000 who marched were there about, union members, pensioners, disabled, unemployed, communists, greens, socialists, social-democrats and those without any political affiliation as well as those of the Alliance for Green Socialism, Communist Party of Britain, Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), Green Party, Socialist Party, Socialist Workers Party, Labour Party etc. Our first priority is to defend the British working classes against the exploitation of the capitalist elite by appropriating the social-wage bundle which is the welfare state, without the permission of the people of Britain. Of course Supporting Left-Labour is part of that but not our first priority, that is to bring down the Tory/Liberal coalition and stop the cuts.’’
